Epic Games recently revealed that its Epic Mobile Store and the popular game Fortnite will be available on iOS devices in Japan by the end of 2025.

Apple Insider reports that Japan has enacted legislation resembling the EU Digital Markets Act, obligating Apple to permit third‑party app stores on the App Store. The law, first proposed by a government task force in June of last year, is slated to take full effect only by the end of next year.
The new regulation will also require Apple and Google to allow users to download alternative app stores and to provide non‑Apple payment options.

Epic’s CEO, Tim Sweeney, shared his thoughts on social media, stating that Fortnite will return to iOS in Japan and the UK next year, and in the EU this year. He described the change as a new, more open landscape for developers and users alike.
