Squad – Next Tactical FPS by Project Reality Team
The team behind the popular Battlefield 2 mod "Project Reality" is developing a new tactical first‑person shooter for PC called "Squad." Here are the first screenshots and details.
Game Trailer:
Squad has recently attracted attention on Steam, with hopes of a Steam release.
Reports say Squad supports up to 100 players, allowing 50 vs 50 battles and breaking Battlefield’s record of 64 players. Its gameplay is similar to Battlefield; players can choose sniper, machine‑gunner, medic, helicopter pilot, and more.
Scheduled for early 2016, nearly a year away. Squad is a squad‑based shooter with vast maps like Battlefield. Official description: maps are directly copied or heavily inspired by real‑world locations, based on GIS satellite data. Realistic tactical freedom is essential.
Although Squad’s developers come from the Project Reality team, the official says there’s no direct link. FAQ notes that nearly all developers are former core members of Project Reality. Apart from the name, they aim to make Squad the full successor to Project Reality’s spirit.
Currently no early version is sold; crowdfunding may start in the coming months. Early purchasers could receive an alpha, though the available content is unclear.
Below are screenshots and design images showing maps, environments, visuals, unit settings, weapons, and vehicles.
