According to FS and Nintendo, the Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition for Switch 2 will be postponed from its initially scheduled 2025 release to 2026. The announcement explained the delay is to fully optimize performance and expressed regret for the players' wait.

The edition includes the base game and the major DLC ‘Gold Tree Shadow’, first announced in April. It was originally slated for release alongside Switch 2. However, the lack of substantial updates led to repeated industry speculation about a postponement.
In a statement, FromSoftware said its team is still ‘actively pushing’ the port's development to guarantee stable gameplay on handheld devices. The delay is intended to provide more time for performance tweaks and optimization.

Although the postponement disappointed some players, the community's reaction remained largely calm. Many comments suggested that the development team’s decision to delay is preferable to rushing a launch that would later rely on patches. One player noted: ‘I'd rather wait longer than receive an unstable version.’
Meanwhile, some players expressed a desire for Nintendo to release a physical cartridge edition instead of just a digital download, but the official has yet to respond.
