MercurySteam, the Spanish studio famed for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Metroid Prime: Samus Returns, has released a 5‑minute gameplay demo for their new third‑person action RPG, Blades of Fire. The preview was made in partnership with publisher 505 Games.

Blades of Fire will go live on May 22, 2025. It will be available on PC through the Epic Games Store, as well as on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. In China the discounted price on Epic is 205.2 yuan.

Recommended PC hardware: a graphics card such as the RTX 4070 or RX 6800 XT.

Key Features

Sacred Metal – In the world of Blades of Fire, the new queen’s spell turns steel into stone, and only the sacred metal weapons forged by her minions can shatter the enemy blades.

Forging – Discover secret forging scrolls, hone your crafting skills, and build weapons that fit your combat style. The chosen weapon’s type and materials influence weight, length, durability, penetration and edge quality.

Weapon Selection – With seven main weapon classes and more than thirty forging scrolls, you can create virtually endless combinations, making weapon choice critical when facing foes.

Strategic Combat – The game’s challenging system lets you target specific body parts, choosing slashes, thrusts or heavy blows depending on the situation and enemy gear. Only the right weapon will breach an opponent’s armor.

Trusted Companion – Ardeso, the protagonist’s ally, analyzes enemies in battle, logs their traits and offers tactical advice, while also understanding the ancient language of blacksmiths.

Cautious Progression – Over fifty distinct enemies, from royal guards to restless spirits, each possess unique attacks, weapons and armor that require careful handling.

Mysterious World – The journey of Ellan and Ardeso is filled with uncertainty. Though their goals are clear, the path is littered with perilous obstacles and epic settings like towering castles and intricate palaces.
